and thus ended the reign of the kings over the people of Nephi; and thus ended the days of Alma, who was the founder of their church.

This ended the rule of kings over the people of Nephi. This also ended the days of Alma, who started their church.

And so the reign of kings over the Nephites came to an end. So ended the days of Alma, who founded their church.
