Mosiah 29:42

And it came to pass that Alma was appointed to be the chief judge; he being also the high priest; his father having conferred the office upon him, and had given him the charge concerning all the affairs of the church.

Alma was picked to be the chief judge. He was also the high priest. His father had given him this job. He had put him in charge of all the church’s business.
