And again, when they thought of the immediate goodness of God, and his power in delivering Alma and his brethren out of the hands of the Lamanites, and of bondage, they did raise their voices, and gave thanks to God.

When they thought about how good God had been, they thanked him. They were grateful he saved Alma and his brothers from the Lamanites.

Paraphrase

Then they remembered God’s perfect timing and his power in rescuing Alma and his people from the Lamanites and from slavery. They lifted their voices and thanked God.
