Mosiah 24:9

for Amulon knew Alma, that he had been one of the king’s priests, and that it was he that believed the words of Abinadi, and was driven out before the king; and therefore he was wroth with him, for he was subject to king Laman; yet he exercised authority over them, and put tasks upon them, and put task-masters over them.

Amulon knew Alma. Alma had been one of the king’s priests. Alma was the one who believed Abinadi’s words. The king had thrown him out. So Amulon was angry with him. Even though Amulon had to obey King Laman, he still used his power over them. He made them do hard work. He put bosses over them.

Amulon knew Alma. He remembered that Alma had been one of the king’s priests, that he’d believed Abinadi’s words, and that he’d been driven out by the king. So Amulon was furious with him. Even though Amulon himself answered to King Laman, he still had power over Alma’s people. He forced them into hard labor and set overseers to watch them.
