And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying, Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people, and deliver them out of bondage.

Simple English

Then the voice of the Lord came to them in their troubles. He said: “Lift up your heads. Be happy. I know about the promise you made to me. I will make a promise to my people. I will free you from slavery.”

Paraphrase

Then the voice of the Lord came to them in their suffering: “Lift up your heads and take heart. I know the covenant you made with me. I will make a covenant with my people and free you from slavery.”
