Simple English

The king cried out: 'Gideon, don’t kill me! The Lamanites are coming. They will destroy us. They will destroy my people.'

Paraphrase

The king cried out in desperation: 'Gideon, spare me! The Lamanites are coming! They’ll wipe us all out—they’ll destroy my people!'
