The Book of Mormon

Mosiah 16:5

1830 Edition

But remember, that he that persists in his own carnal nature, and goes on in the ways of sin and rebellion against God, he remaineth in his fallen state, and the devil hath all power over him. Therefore he is as though there was no redemption made; being an enemy to God; and also is the devil an enemy to God.

Changes

But remember, that he that persists in his own carnal nature, and goes on in the ways of sin and rebellion against God, he remaineth in his fallen state, and the devil hath all power over him. Therefore he is as though there was no redemption made;, being an enemy to God; and also is the devil an enemy to God.

Simple English

“But remember this: If someone keeps living by their body’s desires and keeps sinning against God, they stay in their fallen state. The devil has all power over them. It is as if there was no way to be saved. They are God’s enemy. The devil is also God’s enemy.”

Paraphrase

“But remember this: anyone who clings to his selfish nature and keeps sinning and rebelling against God stays trapped in that fallen state. The devil has total power over him. It’s as if no rescue ever happened. He’s God’s enemy, and the devil is God’s enemy too.”
