Mosiah 12:19

And they began to question him, that they might cross him, that thereby they might have wherewith to accuse him; but he answered them boldly, and withstood all their questions, yea, to their astonishment: for he did withstand them in all their questions, and did confound them in all their words.

They began to question him. They tried to trick him so they could accuse him of something. But he answered them bravely. He stood up to all their questions. He surprised them. He answered all their questions and confused them with his words.

They started interrogating him, trying to trap him so they could find something to accuse him of. But Abinadi answered boldly and stood firm against every question they threw at him. They were stunned—he handled every question and turned their own words against them.
