Now the eyes of the people were blinded; therefore, they hardened their hearts against the words of Abinadi, and they sought from that time forward to take him. And king Noah hardened his heart against the word of the Lord; and he did not repent of his evil doings.

Simple English

The people could not see the truth. So they made their hearts hard against Abinadi’s words. From that time on, they tried to catch him. King Noah also made his heart hard against the Lord’s word. He did not feel sorry for his evil actions.

Paraphrase

The people were blind to the truth. They hardened their hearts against Abinadi’s words and from that point on, they hunted him. King Noah hardened his heart against the Lord’s message and refused to repent.
