Mosiah 10:18

For this very cause hath king Laman, by his cunning and lying craftiness, and his fair promises, hath deceived me, that I have brought this, my people, up into this land, that they may destroy them; yea, and we have suffered this many years in the land.

This is why King Laman tricked me with his lies and false promises. He got me to bring my people to this land so he could destroy them. We have suffered in this land for many years.

This is exactly why King Laman used his lies and tricks and smooth promises to deceive me into bringing my people to this land—so he could destroy us. And we’ve suffered here for many years because of it.
