Moroni 2:3

Now Christ spake these words unto them at the time of his first appearing; and the multitude heard it not, but the disciples heard it; and on as many as they laid their hands, fell the Holy Ghost.

Jesus spoke these words when he first appeared. The crowd did not hear it. But the disciples heard it. They placed their hands on many people. The Holy Spirit came to them.

Christ said this when he first appeared. The crowd didn’t hear it, only the disciples. And everyone they laid hands on received the Holy Spirit.
