And it came to pass that we did again take to flight, and they whose flight were swifter than the Lamanites did escape, and they whose flight did not exceed the Lamanites, were swept down and destroyed.

Simple English

We ran away again. Those who could run faster than the Lamanites got away. Those who couldn’t run fast enough were killed.

Paraphrase

So we ran again. The ones who could run faster than the Lamanites escaped. The ones who couldn’t were overtaken and killed.
