Mormon 5:1

And it came to pass that I did go forth among the Nephites, and did repent of the oath which I had made, That I would no more assist them; and they gave me command again of their armies: for they looked upon me as though I could deliver them from their afflictions.

I, Mormon, went back to the Nephites. I changed my mind about my promise not to help them anymore. They put me in charge of their armies again. They thought I could save them from their troubles.

I went back to the Nephites and broke the oath I’d made never to help them again. They gave me command of their armies once more—they looked to me as if I could somehow save them from what was coming.
