Mormon 4:8

And it came to pass that they were repulsed and driven back by the Nephites. And when the Nephites saw that they had driven the Lamanites, they did again boast of their strength; and they went forth in their own might, and took possession again of the city Desolation.

The Nephites pushed them back and drove them away. When the Nephites saw that they had driven the Lamanites away, they bragged about their strength again. They went forward in their own strength and took back the city Desolation.

But they were beaten back by the Nephites. When the Nephites saw they’d driven off the Lamanites, they started bragging again about their strength. In their arrogance, they marched out and retook the city of Desolation.
