Mormon 3:16

And it came to pass that I utterly refused to go up against mine enemies; and I did even as the Lord had commanded me; and I did stand as an idle witness to manifest unto the world the things which I saw and heard, according to the manifestations of the spirit which had testified of things to come.

I completely refused to go up against my enemies. I did what the Lord told me to do. I stood there and watched. I showed the world the things I saw and heard. This was because the Spirit had told me about things that would happen.

So I refused to fight. I did what the Lord told me: I became a quiet witness, recording what I saw and heard as the Spirit revealed what was coming.
