And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard went forth, and he saw that his olive tree began to decay; and he sayeth, I will prune it, and dig about it, and nourish it, that perhaps it may shoot forth young and tender branches, and it perish not.

Simple English

The master of the vineyard went to look at it. He saw his olive tree was rotting. He said: “I will trim it and dig around it. I will feed it. Maybe it will grow new young branches and not die.”

Paraphrase

When the master of the vineyard saw his olive tree beginning to decay, he said, ‘I’ll prune it, dig around it, and give it nutrients. Maybe it will sprout new young branches and survive.’
