Jacob 1:3

For he said that the history of his people should be engraven upon his other plates, and that I should preserve these plates, and hand them down unto my seed, from generation to generation.

He said the history of our people should be written on his other plates. He told me to keep these plates safe. I should give them to my children, and they should give them to their children.

The full history of our people belongs on those other records. My job was to guard these plates and pass them down through my family line, generation after generation.
