Jacob 1:14
1830 Edition
But I, Jacob, shall not hereafter distinguish them by these names, but I shall call them Lamanites. They that seek to destroy the people of Nephi, and they which are friendly to Nephi, I shall call Nephites, or the people of Nephi, according to the reigns of the kings.
Changes
But I, Jacob, shall not hereafter distinguish them by these names, but I shall call them Lamanites. They that seek to destroy the people of Nephi, and thosey whicho are friendly to Nephi, I shall call Nephites, or the people of Nephi, according to the reigns of the kings.
Simple English
But I won’t use all these names anymore. I’ll call the people who try to destroy the Nephites “Lamanites.” I’ll call the people who are friendly to Nephi “Nephites” or “the people of Nephi.”
Paraphrase
But from here on, I’m keeping it simple. I’ll call everyone who tries to destroy Nephi’s people “Lamanites.” And anyone loyal to Nephi’s people, I’ll just call “Nephites”—the people of Nephi, named after their kings.
