And notwithstanding the mildness of the voice, behold, the earth shook exceedingly, and the walls of the prison trembled again, as if it were about to tumble to the earth; and behold, the cloud of darkness which had overshadowed them, did not disperse.

Simple English

Even though the voice was gentle, the earth shook very much. The prison walls shook again as if they would fall down. The cloud of darkness that covered them did not go away.

Paraphrase

Despite the gentleness of the voice, the earth shook violently again, and the prison walls trembled as if about to collapse. But the cloud of darkness covering them didn’t lift.
