And it came to pass that Nephi and Lehi did stand forth, and began to speak unto them, saying: Fear not, for behold, it is God that hath shewn unto you this marvellous thing, in the which is shewn unto you, that ye cannot lay your hands on us to slay us.

Simple English

Nephi and Lehi stepped forward and began to speak to them. They said: Don’t be afraid. God has shown you this amazing thing. This shows you that you cannot touch us to kill us.

Paraphrase

Nephi and Lehi stepped forward and began speaking to them: “Don’t be afraid. Look—God has shown you this incredible thing to prove that you can’t kill us.”
