Helaman 3:6

1830 Edition

And now no part of the land was desolate, save it were for timber, &c.; but because of the greatness of the destruction of the people which had before inhabited the land, it was called desolate.

Changes

And now no part of the land was desolate, save it were for timber, &c.; but because of the greatness of the destruction of the people whicho had before inhabited the land, it was called desolate.

Simple English

No part of the land was empty except for trees. But because so many people who had lived there before were destroyed, it was called empty.

Paraphrase

The land wasn’t actually desolate—it just lacked timber. It got that name because of the destruction suffered by the people who’d lived there before.
