1830 Edition

And it came to pass that the fifty and second year ended in peace also, save it were the exceeding great pride which had got into the hearts of the people; and it was because of their exceeding great riches, and their prosperity in the land; and it did grow upon them from day to day.

Changes

And it came to pass that the fifty and second year ended in peace also, save it were the exceedingly great pride which had gotten into the hearts of the people; and it was because of their exceedingly great riches, and their prosperity in the land; and it did grow upon them from day to day.

Simple English

The fifty-second year also ended in peace. But there was very great pride in people’s hearts. This was because they had very great riches. They were doing very well in the land. It grew worse day by day.

Paraphrase

The fifty-second year also ended peacefully—though extreme pride had taken root in people’s hearts. It came from their vast wealth and prosperity. Day by day, it grew worse.
