and so it was done, according to the words of Nephi.—And there was a great famine upon the land, among all the people of Nephi. And thus, in the seventy and fourth year, the famine did continue, and the work of destruction did cease by the sword, but became sore by famine.

It happened just like Nephi asked. A great hunger came to the land. It hit all the Nephites. So in the seventy-fourth year, the hunger continued. The killing by the sword stopped. But many people died from hunger.

And it happened just as Nephi asked. A terrible famine came over the land, hitting all of Nephi’s people. So in the seventy-fourth year, the famine continued. The killing by sword stopped, but the dying from hunger was brutal.
