But behold, the Lamanites were not frightened according to his desire, but they had come into the centre of the land, and had taken the capital city, which was the city of Zarahemla, and were marching through the most capital parts of the land, slaying the people with a great slaughter, both men, women and children, taking possession of many cities and of many strong holds.

But the Lamanites were not scared like he wanted. They had come into the middle of the land. They had taken the capital city, which was Zarahemla. They were marching through the most important parts of the land. They were killing many people—men, women, and children. They were taking many cities and strong places.

But the Lamanites weren’t scared off. They’d marched straight into the center, captured the capital, and were now cutting through the most important cities, killing men, women, and children, seizing city after city and fortress after fortress.
