But it came to pass that Coriantumr did march forth at the head of his numerous host, and came upon the inhabitants of the city, and their march was with such exceeding great speed, that there was no time for the Nephites to gather together their armies;

But Coriantumr marched at the front of his huge army. He came upon the people of the city. He marched so fast that the Nephites had no time to gather their armies.

But that’s exactly what Coriantumr did. He led his huge army in a lightning-fast attack on the city, moving so quickly the Nephites had no time to pull their forces together.
