And it came to pass that Jared was anointed king over the people, by the hand of wickedness; and he gave unto Akish his daughter to wife.

Then Jared was made king over the people by wicked men. He gave his daughter to Akish as his wife.

Jared was crowned king through treachery, and he gave his daughter in marriage to Akish.
