Now the people of Akish were desirous for gain, even as Akish was desirous for power; wherefore the sons of Akish did offer them money, by the which means they drew away the more part of the people after them;

The people of Akish wanted money, just like Akish wanted power. So Akish’s sons offered them money. This is how they got most of the people to follow them.

The people were as greedy for wealth as Akish was for power. So Akish’s sons bribed them with money and pulled most of the people to their side.
