And now Jared became exceeding sorrowful because of the loss of the kingdom, for he had set his heart upon the kingdom, and upon the glory of the world.

Jared became very sad because he lost the kingdom. He had really wanted to be king. He loved having power and glory.

Jared was crushed. He’d lost the kingdom he craved—the power, the glory, all of it.
