Ether 6:3

And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women and children, that they might not cross the great waters in darkness.

The Lord made the stones shine in the darkness. This gave light to the men, women, and children. They could cross the great waters without being in darkness.

This is how the Lord made stones shine in the darkness, so that the men, women, and children wouldn’t have to cross the great waters in the dark.
