And now my beloved brethren, for ye are my brethren, and ye had ought to be loved, and ye had ought to bring forth works which is mete for repentance, seeing that your hearts have been grossly hardened against the word of God, and seeing that ye are a lost and fallen people.

Simple English

“My dear brothers, you are my brothers. You should be loved. You should do works that show repentance. Your hearts have been hard against the word of God. You are a lost and fallen people.”

Paraphrase

“Now, my dear brothers and sisters—and you are my family, you should be loved—you need to do something that shows true repentance. Your hearts have become terribly hardened against God’s word. You’re a lost and fallen people.”
