But behold, the spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying, Repent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight: for behold, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh upon the face of the earth.

The Spirit has told me this: Cry out to these people and say, Change your hearts! Get ready for the Lord! Walk in his paths, which are straight! God’s kingdom is getting close! The Son of God is coming to the earth!

Paraphrase

The Spirit has told me to cry out to you: ‘Repent and prepare the way for the Lord! Walk in His straight paths, because the kingdom of heaven is near and the Son of God is coming to earth.’
