Alma 59:5

And it came to pass that while Moroni was thus making preparations to go against the Lamanites to battle, behold, the people of Nephihah which were gathered together from the city of Moroni, and the city of Lehi, and the city of Morianton, were attacked by the Lamanites;

While Moroni was getting ready to fight the Lamanites, something bad happened. The Nephites from the cities of Moroni, Lehi, and Morianton had come together. The Lamanites attacked them.

But while Moroni was preparing for battle, the Lamanites attacked the city of Nephihah. The defenders there were people who had fled from Moroni, Lehi, and Morianton.
