Alma 57:2
1830 Edition
But I sent an epistle unto the king, That we were sure our forces were sufficient to take the city of Antiparah by our force; and by delivering up the prisoners for that city, we should suppose ourselves unwise, and that we would only deliver up our prisoners on exchange.
Changes
But I sent an epistle unto the king, Tthat we were sure our forces were sufficient to take the city of Antiparah by our force; and by delivering up the prisoners for that city, we should suppose ourselves unwise, and that we would only deliver up our prisoners on exchange.
Simple English
But I sent a letter back to the king. I said our army was strong enough to take the city of Antiparah ourselves. It would not be wise to give back the prisoners for that city. We would only give back our prisoners if we could trade them for ours.
Paraphrase
I wrote back: ‘We have enough strength to take Antiparah by force. Trading prisoners for a city we can already capture would be foolish. We’ll only exchange prisoners on even terms.’
