Alma 48:12

yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people;

He was thankful to God for the many good things God gave his people. He worked very hard for the safety of his people.

His heart swelled with gratitude to God for all the privileges and blessings given to his people. He worked tirelessly for their welfare and safety.
