Alma 47:36
1830 Edition
Now these dissenters, having the same instruction and the same information of the Nephites; yea, having been instructed in the same knowledge of the Lord; nevertheless, it is strange to relate, not long after their dissentions, they became more hardened and impenitent, and more wild, wicked and ferocious, than the Lamanites; drinking in with the traditions of the Lamanites; giving way to indolence, and all manner of lasciviousness; yea, entirely forgetting the Lord their God.

Simple English
These people who left the Nephites had the same teaching and information as the Nephites. They had learned the same things about the Lord. But it is strange to say that not long after they left, they became harder and wouldn’t change. They became more wild, evil, and mean than the Lamanites. They believed the wrong things the Lamanites believed. They became lazy and did all kinds of bad things. They forgot all about the Lord their God.
Paraphrase
These dissenters had received the same teaching and knowledge as the Nephites. They’d been instructed about the Lord. Yet strangely, not long after abandoning their people, they became harder-hearted and more unrepentant than the Lamanites themselves. They became wilder, more wicked, and more brutal—absorbing Lamanite traditions, giving themselves over to laziness and every kind of indulgence, completely forgetting the Lord their God.
