Alma 43:9

And now the design of the Nephites were to support their lands, and their houses, and their wives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies, and also, that they might preserve their rights and their privileges; yea, and also their liberty, that they might worship God according to their desires;

The Nephites wanted to protect their lands, their homes, their wives, and their children from their enemies. They also wanted to keep their rights and freedom. They wanted to worship God the way they believed was right.

The Nephites, on the other hand, wanted to protect their land, their homes, their wives, and their children from enemy hands. They wanted to preserve their rights and freedoms—especially the freedom to worship God however they chose.
