And now the spirit of the Lord doth say unto me, Command thy children to do good, lest they lead away the hearts of many people to destruction: therefore I command you, my son, in the fear of God, that ye refrain from your iniquities;

Simple English

The Spirit of the Lord tells me to command my children to do good. Otherwise they will lead many people to destruction. So I command you, my son, with respect for God, to stop doing these bad things.

Paraphrase

The Spirit is telling me to command my children to do what’s right, so they don’t lead countless people to destruction. So I’m commanding you with the reverence I have for God: stop this wickedness.
