O, thought I, that I could be banished and become extinct both soul and body, that I might not be brought to stand in the presence of my God, to be judged of my deeds.

Simple English

I thought: I wish I could disappear completely. I wish my soul and body could be gone. Then I would not have to stand before God and be judged for what I did.
