The Book of Mormon

Alma 33:21

1830 Edition

O my brethren, if ye could be healed by merely casting about your eyes, that ye might be healed, would ye not behold quickly, or would ye rather harden your hearts in unbelief, and be slothful, that ye would not cast about your eyes, that ye might perish?

Changes

O my brethren, if ye could be healed by merely casting about your eyes, that ye might be healed, would ye not behold quickly, or would ye rather harden your hearts in unbelief, and be slothful, that ye would not cast about your eyes, that ye might perish?

Simple English

My brothers, if you could be healed by just looking around, would you not look quickly? Or would you make your hearts hard and not believe? Would you be lazy and not look around? Would you let yourself die?

Paraphrase

“My friends, if you could be healed just by opening your eyes and looking—would you do it quickly? Or would you harden your hearts in unbelief and be too lazy to simply open your eyes, choosing instead to die?”
