Alma 30:32

Now Alma saith unto him, Thou knowest that we do not glut ourselves upon the labors of this people; for behold, I have labored even from the commencement of the reign of the Judges, until now, with mine own hands, for my support, notwithstanding my many travels round about the land, to declare the word of God unto my people.

Simple English

Alma said to him: You know we don’t take what the people work for. I have worked with my own hands to support myself from the time the judges started ruling until now. This is true even though I’ve traveled around the land a lot to teach God’s word to my people.

Paraphrase

Alma said to him, 'You know we don’t get rich off these people’s labor. I’ve worked with my own hands for my living from the beginning of the judges' reign until now, despite my many travels across the land declaring God’s word to my people.'
