Alma 26:3

1830 Edition

Behold, I answer for you, for our brethren, the Lamanites, were in darkness, yea, even in the darkest abyss; but behold, how many of them are brought to behold the marvellous light of God! And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made instruments in the hands of God, to bring about this great work.

Changes

Behold, I answer for you,; for our brethren, the Lamanites, were in darkness, yea, even in the darkest abyss;, but behold, how many of them are brought to behold the marvellous light of God! And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made instruments in the hands of God, to bring about this great work.

Simple English

I will answer for you. Our brothers, the Lamanites, were in darkness. They were in the darkest place. But many of them have now seen the wonderful light of God! This is the blessing he gave us. We have been tools in the hands of God to do this great work.

Paraphrase

“I’ll tell you. The Lamanites—our own brothers—were living in darkness, the deepest darkness you can imagine. But look how many of them have now seen God’s amazing light! And this is the blessing: God used us to make it happen. We got to be part of this incredible work.”
