Alma 21:8

1830 Edition

And the man saith unto him, We do not believe that thou knowest any such thing. We do not believe in these foolish traditions. We do not believe that thou knowest of things to come, neither do we believe that thy fathers, and also that our fathers did know concerning the things which they spake, of that which is to come.

Changes

And the man saithd unto him,: We do not believe that thou knowest any such thing. We do not believe in these foolish traditions. We do not believe that thou knowest of things to come, neither do we believe that thy fathers, and also that our fathers did know concerning the things which they spake, of that which is to come.

Simple English

The man said to him: “We don’t believe you know anything like that. We don’t believe these silly old stories. We don’t believe you know what will happen in the future. We don’t believe your fathers knew about the future either. And we don’t believe our fathers knew about it when they talked about what would happen.”

Paraphrase

The man replied, “We don’t believe you know anything about that. We don’t believe in these foolish traditions. We don’t believe you can predict the future, and we don’t believe your ancestors—or ours, for that matter—knew anything about what was coming.”
