Alma 19:27

and there were some which said that Ammon was sent by the Great Spirit to afflict them, because of their iniquities, and that it was the Great Spirit that had always attended the Nephites, which had ever delivered them out of their hands; and they said that it was this Great Spirit which had destroyed so many of their brethren, the Lamanites;

Some said that Ammon was sent by the Great Spirit to punish them because of their sins. They said it was the Great Spirit that had always helped the Nephites. He had always saved them from the Lamanites. They said it was this Great Spirit who had killed so many of their brothers, the Lamanites.
