And when they had all testified to the things which they had seen, and he had learned of the faithfulness of Ammon in preserving his flocks, and also of his great power in contending against those who sought to slay him, he was astonished exceedingly, and saith, Surely, this is more than a man. Behold, is not this the Great Spirit which doth send such great punishments upon this people; because of their murders?

After they told about everything they saw, the king learned about Ammon’s faithfulness in protecting his flocks. He also learned about Ammon’s great power when he fought against those who tried to kill him. The king was amazed and said, “This must be more than a man. Is this the Great Spirit who punishes our people because of their murders?”
