Alma 16:5

therefore he that had been appointed Chief Captain over the armies of the Nephites, (and his name was Zoram, and he had two sons, Lehi and Aha:) Now Zoram and his two sons, knowing that Alma was High Priest over the Church, and having heard that he had the spirit of prophecy, therefore they went unto him and desired of him to know whether the Lord would that they should go into the wilderness in search of their brethren, who had been taken captive by the Lamanites.

They asked him to find out from the Lord if they should go into the wilderness to search for their brothers who had been taken prisoner by the Lamanites.

So Zoram, who had been appointed chief captain over the Nephite armies—a man with two sons named Lehi and Aha—went to see Alma. They knew Alma was the high priest over the church and that he had the Spirit of prophecy. They asked him whether the Lord wanted them to go into the wilderness and search for their captured brothers and sisters.
