Alma 12:24

And we see that death comes upon mankind, yea, the death which has been spoken of by Amulek, which is the temporal death; nevertheless there was a space granted unto man, in which he might repent; therefore this life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state, which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead.

We see that death comes to everyone. This is the death of the body that Amulek talked about. But God gave people time to turn away from wrong. This life became a time to get ready to meet God. It’s a time to get ready for what comes after we rise from the dead.

“So death does come to everyone—the physical death Amulek talked about. But God gave humanity time to repent. This life became a testing ground, a time to prepare to meet God, a time to get ready for that endless state that comes after the resurrection of the dead.
