Simple English

The judges wanted to make more money. They got paid for the work they did. So they stirred up the people to fight and cause trouble and do bad things. That way they would have more work. They would get money from the cases brought to them. So they stirred up the people against Alma and Amulek.

Paraphrase

The whole point of this system was profit. Since they were paid based on their workload, lawyers and judges would stir up riots and all kinds of trouble and wickedness so they’d have more cases to work—and more money to make. That’s why they stirred up the people against Alma and Amulek.
