3 Nephi 8:22

and there was not any light seen, neither fire, nor glimmer, neither the sun, nor the moon, nor the stars, for so great were the mists of darkness which were upon the face of the land.

No one could see any light. They couldn’t see fire. They couldn’t see the sun, the moon, or the stars. The darkness was like a thick fog over the land.

Nothing could be seen—no fire, no glimmer, no sun, no moon, no stars. The mists of darkness covered the land completely.
