Now there were many of those which testified of the things pertaining to Christ; which testified boldly, which were taken and put to death secretly, by the Judges, that the knowledge of their death came not unto the governor of the land, until after their death.

Simple English
Many people who told about Jesus spoke boldly. The judges took them and killed them in secret. The governor of the land didn’t know they had died until after they were dead.
Paraphrase
But many who testified boldly about Christ were secretly arrested and executed by the judges. The governor didn’t find out about their deaths until afterward.
