3 Nephi 5:16

therefore I do make my record from the accounts which hath been given by those which were before me, until the commencement of my day;

I am making my record from the records written by those who came before me. I use their records up until my own time.

So I’m compiling my record from the accounts of those who came before me, up until my own lifetime.
